Top 10 things of Dehradun you would love to know ~ ~ ~

We have one of the finest schools of the country

Doon has always been the pioneer in school education in the whole country. The pride you get when you see a person’s expression when he knows that your schooling is from Dehradun. We are having The Doon School, Welham School, BrightLands, RIMC etc which are famous all over.

Yummiest Bakeries

Yup, we have grown eating the best rusks, pastries, patties, plum cakes you can get. Ellora’s , Nany’s, Grands , Sunrise and Standards. You know the feeling when some relative comes to Doon and what they want to take back are not sweets and lots and lots of bakery stuff!! Or when you go to some place you would rather pack up a box of fruit cakes from Elloras rather than sweets!!

Delicious Fast Food

Momos!!! Doonites will understand but for others, well what would you say about a city where on each street, in every nook and corner you can find a stall for Momos ,Chowmein ,soup and Ban Tikkis. We live on fast food. Every evening we get out of our houses and we want something to eat. And not to forgot the Gaylord’s Ice Cream Parlour at Clock Tower, Melting Moments at Rajpur Road, Countdown’s temptation at Subhash Road or Boby Soup Corner.

Our Own Public Transport “Vikrams”

We have something special, other cities have Autos, Rickshaws, Metros but our favorite is a Vikram. No, it’s not a person; it’s Doon’s way of conveyance and also probably one of the cheapest ones still. Tourists or outsiders may call it a tempo but the real name is Vikrams,

Awesome places to Hang Out

A bunk from a school or a fun day in Malsi Deer Park. Going out on Sunday evening to Deer Park and be so fascinated about watching Deer or tussles with the monkeys there. Lacchiwala, Sahastradhara, Robbers Cave in hot summer afternoons or FRI in winters!! And a place which no Doonite is untouched is Maggi Point, the best point to enjoy a date or to hang out along with your best buddies.

Look out for new and unknown places

The beauty of Doon is that when you go to an unknown road, you maybe be awarded by such an amazing place which you would never wanna share with anybody other than people really close because you don’t want people to know about that place leading it to ultimately be a tourist spot and be destroyed!!

Malls & Multiplex Developing

It’s been 15 years now and Doon has emerged a hub for Retail market. Mall, complex and multiplexes have opened and they are getting ahuge response from city. Instead of our oldest market Paltan Bazar, people have option to shop from Malls & Super Markets like Pacific Mall, Cross Road Mall, City Junction Mall etc. But still if you want to check out the real crowd of Doon then its only and only Rajpur Road.

How green was our valley!!

Everyone born in or before the 90s would know and remember Doon as a silent town filled with greenery and no crime. There was a time when Dilaram Chowk used to feel that we have come too far or going towards Sahastradhara at night was too scary because of the green cover. Development is somewhere good but somewhere its bad for our environment. Imagine Dun before this dreadful transformation!!

We have Litchies and the best Basmati Rice

We have some of the finest litchis and the finest quality of Basmati Rice. Though now the litchi trees have been cut off and it’s hard to get our own cities Litchis we still love the taste of red juicy fruits. We have grown up eating them and loving them.

Feel proud to be a Doonite

When your friends & relatives would come to Doon and be mesmerized by almost everything here. Studying about Doon is school books because of IMA and FRI. Having movie shot in Shimla or Ooty and named Dehradun!! Listening to Beatles song of Doon! What was there not to feel proud of!! I mean, everything made us proud then and even now ~~~

Shocking but Real Facts About Taj Mahal - Must Read

What we all know about Taj Mahal is that "The Mughul Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal built the Taj Mahal."
This is the same story which everyone read in their history books as a student in India, but now it’s the time to know the truth behind it.

Read Carefully and Think Yourself!!! May be the biggest love story in Indian History is a blunder of historian!!!!!
1. No one has ever challenged this eternal love story except Professor Purushottam Nagesh Oak, who believes the whole world has been duped. In his book Taj Mahal: The True Story, Oak says the Taj Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz Mahal's tomb but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva (then known as Tejo Mahalaya).

2. Shahjahan's court Author "Mulla Abdul Hamid Lahore" has written the entire event of Mughal Emperor in his "Badshahnama", in which he has mentioned one interesting fact that Mumtaz - UL - Zmaani after death, was temporarily buried in Burhanpur (Madhya Pradesh), and after 06 months she was buried again in Akhbarabad (Agra) in an extraordinarily beautiful and magnificent building which was taken from Jai Singh for Mumtaz's burial.

3. Everyone knows that at the time of Muslim rulers, dead courtiers and the people of emperor's family were buried in the temples and buildings which were being seized for possession, for example, Humayun, Akbar, Etmud-ud-Daula and Safdarjung are all buried in such mansions.

4. The term "Mahal" has never been used for a building in any of the Muslim countries, from Afghanistan to Algeria. This explanation is totally illogical that the term Taj Mahal has been derived from the name of Mumtaz Mahal in at least two respects.
Firstly, her name was Mumtaz-ul-Zamani not Mumtaz Mahal.Secondly, one cannot omit the first three letters 'Mum' from a woman's name to derive the remainder as the name for the building.

5. Professor Oak claims that Taj Mahal, is a corrupt version of Tejo-Mahalaya (Shiva’s Palace). Oak also says the love story of Mumtaz and Shah Jahan is a fairy tale.

6. Many rooms in the Taj Mahal have remained sealed since Shah Jahan's time, and are still inaccessible to the public. Oak asserts they contain a headless statue of Shiva and other objects commonly used for worship rituals in Hindu temples.

Allegedly, Indira Gandhi's government tried to ban this book and some would say the Indian government has been politically motivated in suppressing this theory. Allegedly the Indian government will not allow an independent investigation within these chambers, and if that is the case it raises suspicions as to their motives.
Would request you all, that if you like this blog, then please share it with others and please post a comment, whatever comes in your mind after reading this.

Thanks & Regards

Save Our Tigers ... Only 1411 Left...

Today our national animal "TIGER" is fighting for its life.

It was really shocking news for me when I came to know that there were total of 40,000 tigers in the last century and now only 1411 left.

Tigers were considered as a part of our heritage. The difference of 38589 tigers shows the merciless killing of this beautiful animal. Indian Government has been spending billions of rupees after the border protection however result is in front of all.
Time has come now that; we take care of our own animals too. If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.
Protection should be given the high priority. The killers should fear from the security staff that if they are caught, they can be the target of bullets. Strict laws should be executed immediately against any such caught killers.

For all working peoples, who don’t have enough time to get involve in this, I would say at least share this information through the medium of internet.

There are many sites through which you can spread the message and share the concern like Orkut, Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and Blogging Sites.
Let everyone know that our tigers are on the brink of extinction and that they need us.

You can also join this blog and make the roar loud and clear and spreading the word wherever you go – online or offline.

In India, Aircel has partnered with WWF-India to help save our tigers. There are many credible organizations working towards tiger conservation in India, and they need your support. WWF-India is one such organization at the forefront of the effort.

Let us join hands and spread the awareness about “SAVE OUR TIGERS” mission and put our efforts to stop the killing.
